Common exception words are words that cannot be spelt phonetically. Children are expected to be able to read, spell and write these words correctly at the end of the respective academic years.
- Times Tables Rockstars - Year 2 children should focus on recall of 2s, 5s, and 10s.
Homework
- An English activity (reading comprehension or GPAS [Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling]) and Maths activity will be set every Friday. Homework will be sent home in children's homework folders.
- Weekly spellings will also be sent home on Friday for the children to practice throughout the week.
- Homework folders should be returned by the following Wednesday.
- Children should be reading as often as possible throughout the week. Reading books and records should be brought into school every day. Reading records must be signed by an adult, so that new books can be given and children can move along our class 'Reading Race'.
- Spelling tests will be on a Friday. Scores will be sent home.
Communication
- Class Dojo - 8.30-8.50am and 3.30-4.30pm
- Please contact the office regarding any absences, appointments, changes to personal information or pick up arrangements.
Things to Remember
- Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday . Please ensure that your child has a fully labelled PE kit in school, including navy tracksuit bottoms for the colder months. Hair should be tied back for PE, and children wearing jewellery into school on these days should be able to remove it themselves or removed before they come to school.
