Things to Remember
In Year 1 we are striving to become more independent. The children are responsible for handing in letters and any other belongings.
- P.E. will be on a Wednesday. Please ensure your child does not wear any jewellery to school on these days. Children wearing jewellery into school on P.E days, must be able to remove it themselves. Children will also need warm, navy tracksuit bottoms for the colder months, as we will still be going outside.
- Forest school will be on a Friday in term 1. Children will need to wearing suitable clothing, which includes a long sleeved top and trousers (not shorts or jeans). Welly boots and waterproofs will need to be sent in to be worn during sessions.
- Homework will be set on a Friday. All children will have a folder with their homework sheets inside - this will consist of spellings to practise and a maths sheet. A message on Dojo will posted about the homework which has been set each week. Please ensure that spellings are practiced at home ready for a spelling test on Wednesday, and that homework folders are returned each Wednesday ready for the new homework to be set on Friday.
- We will visit the library on a Monday. Please ensure borrowed books are returned to school each Monday so that they can be changed.
- Children will be sent home reading books each week. Please ensure that your child's reading record is signed, so that new books can be given. It is imperative that children are reading daily in order to consolidate their understanding of phonics and to build their reading fluency.
- Please ensure all items of clothing and water bottles are clearly named.
